10.5.3 Issues

To any mac users, are you having any airport issues with 10.5.3, the update to the operating system was supposed to fix some people’s issues with connecting to routers and yes it has fixed their problems and caused problems for those who’s wifi worked perfectly up until the update.

I have also been reading on the Apple Support Pages that people are having problems yet again with CS3 with the new update so if I were you I would hold out on the update until Apple releases an update or something to say how to fix the probelms

A Quick Update Post!

Hi there readers (anyone)

Just a quick update here to tell you that I am not dead or any other status which renders me incapable to post. I have just been really busy with college commitments and exams.

  • First off I had to work endlessly to iron out the few final bugs and tweak my program for my AS Computing practical examination, upon which you can download the installer and documentation here. and soon on my new portfolio.
  • Secondly my final piece of Graphic Design work, upon which you can also see all the parts of it along with previous pieces of work on my portfolio soon!
  • Photography Coursework has been a real downer on me recently, I often look at my photo’s and see nothing positive about them so finding the right words to express my opinions in a PowerPoint often baffles and causes me to spend a lot of contemplative time over them

and with that my final piece of work im way busy with at the moment is my Portfolio. I will post up a few development images soon in the run up to it’s launch but lets say I’m very excited about this. Whether it will of been a valuable use of my time or just a waste time will tell!

Weekly Catchup: The Lazy Easter Edition

yup time for another weekly catchup, and yes I know that I missed one last week but that was due to major deadlines and extended work time at Boots that week.  This week is the lazy edition because it’s been an Easter edition and that means a 3 day weekend, so I can get away with posting this late Monday night. so lets  get this biatch moving.

Gaming:

Not a lot of different games this week it’s been mainly Halo 3  because my mate Lewis (Gamertag = sonicbirkett) has eventually got a  gold membership so  we have been playing the campaign through on legendary a mission or two a day so with all the extra time off college we managed to get it over and done with today, so that’s an extra 250 points added to my gamerscore and a  few extra points for some skulls I had left over to collect. Apart from that I am tying up some loose ends in some games that I have had in my collection for  a while, the majority of them being arcade games…. Yaris, Aegis Wing and Geo Wars. Amazingly I managed to get an achievement in Geo Wars after what seems like months of play, for 100,000 points earned,  I then consequently died afterwards. Aegis wing I managed to get 75 points in one go because I teamed up and played with Lewis in co-op which does make the game very much easier.

One game left that I have been playing this week is Saints Row for all it’s flaws it is beginning to warm on me. I never owned this game and I borrowed it from Lewis and only  did the tutorial, but as I looked like such a noob in it  with 20 points I decided to borrow it again to try and finish it off quickly, instead I found myself really quite enjoying my self so I  have been taking it  slowly and doing all the activities. My favourite being the Chop Shop and the demo derby. At the point of writing I have played the game for 17 hours 30 min’s so close to the 20 hours achievement.

Music:

This week has been amazing for music in my opinion, first off Sam Sparro has released his debut single Black and Gold. which is absolutely brilliant with influences from Goldfrapp and similar’s, this song has actually managed to get me interested in Soul and Dancy music for what seems like an age listening to Indie and Rock music. Two great albums that I am loving this week are Konk by The Kooks (review coming soon) and also  Brain Thrust Mastery by We Are Scientists, that are more my scene than Sam Sparro is or ever will be.

Easter:

How was your Easter? mine was bliss this year because for once we didn’t travel for 3 and a half hours to Nottingham in order to see the relatives, and my auntie and one of my Grans came down to see us this year, Meaning I could have lazy days in bed till 11:30 ish and then up to grab a bacon sandwich with HP Sauce smile_tongue. With 6 days off of college I have also managed to get some computing coursework done and as of today I am pretty close to getting Peter’s Petrol Pump’s finished on time, a few graphical things to sort out logo’s, backgrounds and splash screens etc  it  should be good soon fingerscrossed.

iPhone and iPod Touch Development:

So I’ve started to learn objective C and some basic Cocoa and I have had a few promising things created, nothing to brag about though mind. A few of my projects have finished though a custom built RSS reader for Mobile Safari using Dashcode so that’s really taken off with a more or less finished version for Mactropolis on their server, just a few more tweaks to the background images and that will be finished you can see it in progress at mactropolis.com/reader/ don’t try to open that on your standard browser though because it will only function properly in Mobile Safari.

Okies so that’s another weekly catchup all done with and as I type this last sentence it is now Tuesday so that doesn’t bode well for the whole weekly theme but oh well’s. O and Mayor if your reading this I will have your blog post ready by wednesday.

Weekly Catchup

Time for a new "Feature" on the blog, each week I will be posting a weekly catchup of stuff that has happened not only in my life but the week in gaming and technology (effort and time permitting).

This week is just what is happening in my little world for reasons that you will learn as you carry on reading.

Deadlines:

As any college student or business worker will tell you deadlines are the worst word in our vocabularies, this week I have had 3 deadlines to work towards for the the very immediate future. First off Graphics, Unit 1. this involved the completion of Project 2 the brand new design for the side of a Volkswagen Beetle , and the remainder of the work for my resubmit of project one the corporate signage logo and menu for a restaurant located in The New Forest. A lot of work and a lot of late nights this week to complete these for tomorrow (Mon 3rd March)
